Park naturalist. Jerry De Santo was born in Duluth, Minn., on 6 May 1928. He joined the Air Force in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.A. in 1956 and an M.A. in 1958 in central European history. He finished his dissertation work in Italian history at the University of Colorado at Boulder but refused the degree.
